Sam took his first steps on his own. Last night, after a full day of trying, right before bed Craig told Sam to walk to him. Just try. Just a few steps. And then he did. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. He did it twice.
He's not so into it today. I haven't seen a good long string of steps. But while I was cooking dinner tonight, he held on to my skirt. I absentmindedly unattached his hand, walked across the kitchen and then a few seconds later, felt his fat little fist reattach to my skirt. Craig saw it, but Sam didn't see Craig seeing it. It had to have been a good 15 or 20 paces that he walked.
But still, most of the time, if you put the pressure on and ask him to walk, he shouts no and places his palms down on the floor.
We also read from the book I bought him at one of the wonderful used bookstores in San Diego. It is an absolutely giant board book with photographs of items starting with each letter of the alphabet. For about 20 minutes today, I would point to different items, and he would name them. Apple. Ball. Button. Cat. Dog. Elephant. Flower. Baaa (aka sheep). Pig. Shoes. Choo choo (for train).
Emma is over tonight. And all through dinner they laughed at something, Craig and I still do not know what it was, but it was utterly hysterical. And peas fell from their mouths the whole time. MMMMM. Well, at least they were eating peas.
How exciting! Yay Sam! Now you can see the world from a little higher up.
