Daddy Days.

I think we shall refer to these months as Love in the Time of Daddy. Sam loves all things Daddy. Common phrases you might hear in our house are: Daddy will be home soon. Daddy will show you something (trans. Daddy will play with me on the computer.) Daddy will fix it. Daddy will give me a bath. Daddy will read me books. No no no, mama! Daddy will do it (sometimes as he slaps my hand away). He often, during dinner, will reach over and hold Craig's hand as they eat. Sam really can't get enough of his Daddy.

Here they are changing a light bulb together. Excuse Sam's moderate level of undress. He was potty training.

Sometimes, he has a moment to spare for friends like Maddie. She came all the way from Kansas City.

But the attention enjoyed by others is short-lived.

Daddy even takes him to restaurants with trains where, in order to receive a free toy, you are required to eat a cupcake. I often hear about this when I take him out to lame places like McDonald's or... oh, prepare a meal for him at home. He says, "Daddy will take you to the trains restaurant."

But every once in a while, I can milk a little affection out of him. So I won't panic just yet.

  1. I love the picture of
Sam and Maddie looking out on the world. I usually change light bulbs in the same attire!!!
