Sleep update

Henry seems to be getting it. I am loathe to actually put it out for the world to see, knowing Murphy's Law is zooming towards me to smite me or at least to laugh heartily at me. Nevertheless, that is 4 successful naps in a row where Henry has, after 15 minutes or so of crying, fallen asleep and stayed asleep for one hour or more.

And I must also mention his pattern, which though completely annoying is Henry at his most precious. He gets tired. I take him to a dark place and rock and nurse him. He falls asleep. I unlatch him. He wakes up and stares at me, grins and then begins a monologue of cooing. Hoo. Ha. Hoo. Huh. Huh. Mmmm. Hoo. Gooo. Cooo. Smile. Smile. Totally. Awake. I have attempted to lull him back to sleep, but he insists on chatting me up. I try to turn my head away so he can't see my face. Or I stare at him like a statue hoping to see his eyes unfocus and glaze over. But I'm telling you, nothing will deter him from his insanely beautiful and loving monologue. So I smile at him and say, Bud, I love you too, but you need to get some rest. At this point, he becomes so gleeful that I've spoken to him finally he begins to kick frantically, grin and squeal. Then I call him a psycho and tell him to stop putting me on a pedestal because sooner or later, I'm going to really disappoint him. And then I tell him I love him and lay him down in his crib. At this point, he looks at me like I have committed the ultimate betrayal and begins shrieking. Then I leave and 15 minutes later, he falls asleep.

Nighttime seems smooth and usually has little or no crying. Or Odes to Mom. I mean, can I call this a success, or am I asking for it?

Well, I did call it a success. And do you know what I did to celebrate. I went to Target and bought a mop and during afternoon nap time, I mopped my house. I. am. ridiculous.

  1. You. Are. Amazing. When I get both of my kids to sleep, I tend to watch reruns of Gilmore Girls and do crossword puzzles. Now, how about if you go get some rest?!
