Currents: Henry
current books: After all the complaining that I did that Henry doesn't like books, he sure likes books. He's fond of jabbing at Sam's Tag books with the pen and freaking Sam out with it. But as far as a favorite bedtime book, I'd have to say he is undiscerning. His goal is really to be able to read as many as possible, no matter what they are.
current album: Henry adores music. One of my absolute favorite things about him is that at the end of each song, no matter what it is, he said "Good song." We have a mix of music that we listen to pretty regularly, and I'm finding that he and I often agree on what should be playing. This won't last much longer, so I take full advantage now. We enjoy Carrie Underwood a lot.
current film: Again, he is not picky. His brother loves to dominate the remote control, so he pretty much watches what Sam picks out. It's a consistent mix of Yo Gabba Gabba, Tangled, and The Frog and the Princess. Today, Henry was pretty insistent on Super Why and I obliged him, much to his brother's dismay. Henry is not a big TV watcher though. He gets excited when I turn it on, but within 10 minutes or so, he has wandered away to the bedrooms to play with toys.
current shame-inducing guilty pleasure: Shame is a foreign concept to a two year old, obviously. But something he has taken to doing is winding through my legs like a cat when I am cooking in the kitchen. He thinks it is hysterical fun. I think it is dangerous.
current color: At the gym, there are two chairs where kids can change their shoes. One is pink and one is green. And his favorite part about going to the gym is moving from one chair to the other while I get exasperated trying to get to his feet.
current links: I have yet to introduce Henry to the computer. Poor guy. He does enjoy slamming his fists on the computer when I am stupid enough to leave it open. And I often play him the Elmo ABC song on you tube when we are out shopping and he is bored.
current fetish: He does this thing where he opens his mouth really wide and puts it on your body somewhere and breathes out hot air on you. I'm always afraid he's going to bite me, but he hasn't so far.
current songs: Enter Sandman, We Will Rock You, Boom Boom Pow. If I agreed to play those three songs on an endless loop, Henry's life would be complete.
current outfit: Jean shorts, a white shirt that miraculously has survived the endless chocolate milk stains, and some of the stinkiest sandals this side of the Mississippi. We're going out for new sandals for the boys this evening, because their feet are so repellant I gag when I bath them. This is not an exaggeration.
current fragrance: hot humid sweaty summery boy. best smell ever.
current drink: His cough has him off milk products at the moment, but the boy is crazy for his chocolate milk.
current wish list: To have a pacifier permanently affixed to every article of clothing that he owns. I have been withholding of late, trying to prepare him for the imminent day when he will have to make do without a pacifier. He's coping pretty well, and I've been much more lenient since he's been sick. But that boy is like a hawk for pacifiers and if he spots one that I forgot to hide, he makes a beeline for it, pops it in his mouth, and then disappears from my sight to keep it as long as possible.
current triumph: The infamous "Ow" for yes is disappearing and being replaced with a hearty "YEAH!" I am sad to see the OW go. I will remember that little quirk of his always.
current bane of his existence: His cough is causing him a lot of discomfort, I think and he is constantly pointing to his nose (by stinking his finger in it) and saying UH OH BOOGERS and then coughing and putting his fingers into his throat and saying "WHA HAPPEN?"
current crush: Me. Still. This boy loves his mama. I can be with him for 97 hours straight and if I leave to go pick up a gallon of milk, he has an meltdown of epic proportions and sobs I WANT MAMA. When Craig leaves, he goes "BYE BYE DADDY!" His love for Craig is just as strong as his love for me, so I don't get it. If I am in the kitchen cooking or in the bathroom doing bathroomly things, he will find me, bring his toys to where I am and lay at my feet or wind through them, playing and saying "Hi, Mama." every couple of minutes.
current indulgence: The boys are into those popsicles in the little plastic tubes this summer, and both like when it melts and they get to drink the juice out. But Henry doesn't like to eat any Popsicle at all and he will just tip that thing back and suck for like 30 minutes straight as it melts.
current excitement: Anytime we go anywhere. He likes to go bye bye. When I walk in his room, both in the morning and after naps, he always says "I ready bye bye. Yeah Yeah." It's odd because, he's often unhappy with the locations we go to, and doesn't enjoy being out as much as he does being home, but I think maybe the prospect of something exciting is enough and just the fact that we MAY be going somewhere cool is good enough for him.
current mood: tired from coughing, quietly intrigued by his toys (especially hot wheels), mischievous.
