Yesterday, Sam brought home a book from school. It was in a manila envelope. He was supposed to read it to me and, once he'd successfully done that, he could return it to his teacher. She will write on the outside of his envelope with a smelly marker. Once he has ten smelly marks, he gets to pick out a sticker of his choice.
Sam could not wait to read this book to me. I mean that literally. He could not wait. As soon as his seat belt was fastened, he had it opened and he was reading it aloud. By the time we pulled into the driveway, he was done and I was in tears.
Because OH MY GOD! Sam can officially read.
I've never seen him more proud of himself. He called Craig and said "Dad! I just read mom a book. Not a word. Not a page. A WHOLE BOOK!"
