currents: henry

current books: if he deigns to be still for one moment, it will be for either Pat the Bunny (which, given the tactile adventures inside is arguably not a "sitting still" experience) or for Moo, Baa, La La La. Mostly he likes to take the books from me, open and shut them really fast, and then fling them across the room.

current album: Henry dances to anything with a beat. He dances to anything without a beat too. He is a dancing machine. It's pretty dang cute too. His dancing is basically swaying his torso from side to side and then clapping his hands frantically every 30 seconds or so.

current film: Not so much into TV. Though he did once catch a glimpse of Elmo on the big screen and became immediately entranced. They say Elmo is like crack for babies, but I think perhaps he might be more like weed.

current shame-inducing guilty pleasure: i don't think he has shame or guilt. he seems to be completely aware of what is not allowed and to find those activities to be the best ones to pursue for obvious reasons. If the bathroom door is left open by mistake, no matter what his location or activity in the house, Henry will haul ass to make it inside, stand at the toilet and begin splashing in the water. Without. Fail. He also really enjoys opening the broiler and oven, eating cat food, dumping out the water in Marge's bowl, climbing stairs, using the standing lamp to stand up and then practice his pole dancing routines while coming perilously close to being maimed by said lamp, standing and/or jumping in the tub, throwing himself off of furniture onto the floor, slamming his fingers in cabinets, doors, and drawers, and putting every item found on the floor into his mouth.

current color: golden with white stripes. we recently discovered that in the fat rolls around his ankles, henry has tan lines. too. freaking. cute.

current links: none. thank god. that would be creepy and wrong.

current fetish: bananas. this morning, i attempted to give him strawberries instead of bananas (as per our usual ritual). he began shrieking, like glass breaking type shrieks, and flinging the bits of strawberry onto the floor. once they were all off his tray, he looked at me and growled over and over nana. nana. nana. it seems he got craig's love of ritual combined with my passionate temper. lucky.

current songs: i sing to him every night before bed. the list includes: you'll never walk alone, home, catch a falling star, lullaby, or you are my sunshine. i would gladly welcome new additions to my list if you have any to suggest. before his nap today i made up a song and the only words were henry, you are a crazy man.

current outfit: red white and blue striped onesie.

current fragrance: a combo of spilled milk, mashed banana, shampoo and a little of that sweaty humid smell of summer.

current drink: milk and water. because they don't make banana juice.

current wish list: to bathe in the toilet or nap in the oven. also, to play xbox with sam and dad. yesterday, he got hold of a controller. he held it tenderly, carefully, and then he pressed one button ever so gently. he looked over at craig in triumph and then squealed and laughed so hard he almost knocked himself over.

current triumph: i think he feels pretty good about himself when he makes it into the bathroom.

current bane of his existence: oh sweet jesus. getting his diaper changed. he arches his back so hard when laid on his changing table that he actually does a perfect back bend. only the top of his head and his toes are touching the table. he screams his head off the whole time and you actually have to physically restrain him -- not without some real effort-- to keep him from flipping over and moving into a seated position. this can be a really messy experience sometimes. craig seems to have an even rougher time with it than i do.

current celebrity crush: it seems that sam may be the winner of the moment. he asks for "mam" quite a bit. and follows him around like a puppy. sam is pretty oblivious to the attention. his biggest reaction when henry comes around is to announce "uh oh, here he comes" and then move to higher ground.

current indulgence: graham crackers, blueberries, bananas and goldfish.

current excitement: when sam shares a toy with him.

current mood: happy and mellow with intense bursts of glee and anger.
