Hi everyone
A few details about what's been up in the kids worlds.
Sam came home with a new fundraiser from school yesterday. They send like one home a week with kids nowadays. It was asking for me to provide them with the names and addresses of 7 people that they could hit up to sell magazines too. If Sam provided these names he would win "a bear collectible and a cool lanyard." You'll be happy to know that I did not release any names or addresses to the school. Sam was positively despondent over this decision, but I reminded him that he has to start selling his popcorn for prizes he might actually use. It was of little consolation in the moment unfortunately. In other Sam news, he signs up for his basketball team this weekend and is really looking forward to that. School is going good for him. Last week he won a raffle and got to drink a pop at school one day this week. He likes his teacher. He says she is strict and serious (She is!) but that he likes her. I said well you are kinda serious too and he agreed. He misses some friends that wound up in other classes, and I think, so far, that has been the most challenging part for him.
Henry like soccer ok. He doesn't feel he is very good at it so he gets upset when someone steals a ball from him and so on but he is learning how to be a good sport. And sometimes he gets distracted picking grass and such -- but frankly, all of the kids get distracted like that because they are 5. He has his first game on Saturday. He got his uniform and is number 7. He loves it. School seems to be going great for him. He loves to go, like his teacher but says she talks REALLLLLLY loud. He says all the grown ups at school talk too loud. He's made friends there too and always has some interesting tidbit to share about his day. One of my favorite things he loves to do is to hunt for treasure with his friend Jack during recess. I don't know what treasure they find, but they spend pretty much every recess looking for it.
Gus is still quite sick. He has a very runny nose, a deep cough, and lots of drooling going on. I think in addition to his illness he may be cutting some teeth. And his antibiotic has given him upset stomach as well. He is in pretty good spirits for being so thoroughly under the weather. He is walking more and more. At Henry's soccer practice last night, he got down and walked all around the edges of the field for a better part of an hour and stayed on his feet a lot of the time. He is not liking the child care center I picked out for him. When we pull into the parking lot and he sees the building, he begins to whimper and when I actually drop him off and leave the room, he gets pretty hysterical. I have tried to wait around outside the door where he can't see me until he calms down. It usually takes him about 5 full minutes, which is a long time. The staff are very nice, but not particularly detailed in their explanations of his day so it's hard to get a good sense of how it's actually going since he can't tell me and they won't. I have become more persistent with my questions, but so far, it's not living up to my hopes for his child care scenario and we may begin shopping around for other options.
That's about it for now. Hope you all have a good weekend. XOX
